TOPIC: Patrick blood in my veins - need help linking back to Robert Patrick born in 1734 in PA and also our Ulster history
I do know that my great grandfather was born Robert Patrick in 1805 in Mercersburg, PA. This is very near the Maryland area where the early Patricks are buried and near the Yellow Britches Creek location outside York. I do have lots of info on the German ancestors who also settled these regions around that time. I think it very likely that I am missing some generations of Patricks who would have been in PA from 1734-1805. If anyone knows anything that would help fill that time period in, I would appreciate the info. I did look on Ancestry.com and saw that some of the siblings from the original immigrant brothers were not traced, and I wonder how I can begin to get info regarding these branches that perhaps were not recorded. I do know that "my" Robert left PA in 1842 to head out to Northern Indiana. I would also like to know when the family went to Ulster, Ireland. I did find a reference to a Patrick listing around 1615 in Ireland and suspect that Hugh was named after Hugh Montgomery, one of the original plantation owners of Ulster. Anybody know anything about the Ulster history?
