Pleasanton this year is August 30th and 31st. It looks to be hugh this year. There are almost 150 Clans/Societies signed up so far so there should be a good crowd. I will have two Lamont tents there. Stop by and say hello.
As the old saying goes "By there or be a Campbell!".

Day 1 is finished. The McSorley family stopped by to help with the tent and Robert Turner spent some time with us also. We were asked to track how many people stopped at the tent, as were all the Clans, as the atheletes are suggesting that the Ckans add nothing to the Games and should be dropped from the event! We had right at 100 stop by to talk yesterday. There are 188 tent spaces this year for the Clans with Clan Chatten taking the award for most real estate with 17 tent spaces. They have 2 10x20 tents for their dining hall! More tomorrow.
The weekend went pretty well. Not a lot of new members but quite a few people interested in Clan Lamont and most took membership apps and were interested in online signup. Below are a couple of photos of the tent setup. This year we only had one tent, but two spaces. So I brought a couple of the professional painters roller extensions, some rope and 4 12/10" bolts. I just raised one of the tent sides and used the poles, rope and bolts to stake it out. One tent and one 10 x 10' shade. It worked well even in the afternoon breezes.
The building on the right in the top photo was the fairgrounds pub. We quickly found that they had burgers and frys for $8 and forced you to sit down in an air conditioned room to eat. The vendors out in the grounds were charging $12 and you got to stand in the sun to eat. Hard choice, especially as they had fish and chips and a lot of other stuff that was quite good.
Michael did a wonderful job even though severely hobbled by arthritis. I know he had at least two new members because they stopped by the vendor who I was working for. I have to find someone to step up to the plate at this premier event to handle the hosting of the Clan Lamont tent.
