Hello,  I have recently sent in an application to join Clan Lamont and am excited to do so.  I am genetically a Patrick from the SW Virginia and/or eastern Kentucky region.  In FTDNA I am B1096, also have a family trees and Y-DNA in Ancestry.  My father was born in Doran, VA in December of 1918, but his birth wasn't registered until March of 1919.  We can rule out my Grandfather of record because the Harrison's of that line are genetically of the Hicks family.  I wondered for years why I was a foot taller than my Harrison cousins.  Through autosomal DNA I have verified my Grandmother, so still have work to do.

My Grandmother had said that we had ties to Eastern Kentucky, but never any more, maybe because she was married to William Harrison at the time my father was born.  DNA has identified lots of kin, Patricks and others in Eastern Kentucky and SW Virginia.  I hope to narrow things down eventually.  I welcome any assistance or encouragement.

welcome Jim, DNA can tell you a lot, did you do the family finder test?

I have done all 3, that is how I found out I was related to the Lamonts.

as a adoptee I have even found and verified my 1/2 brother and sister 2 years ago

Thank you for the welcome.  Yes, I have done the FTDNA family finder (autosomal) as well as the one for Ancestry.com.  Haven't done mtDNA, I know quite a bit about my mother's side.  From family finder I have bunches of cousins, some from my maternal side in VA, some from the Clark side from my Paternal grandmother.  There are a number of mystery cousins that I am working on.  It is possible that my Patrick grandfather didn't bear that name.  YDNA has shown other names that are directly related.

I have a recent message from a third cousin that has shown promise and have been in contact with number of Patrick kin in Kentucky.

I hope to get enough work done this winter to enlarge a list of folks to visit on my next trip south.

several months ago I had 2 Lamonts (they are cousins) match my Y-DNA 67 marker level at a distance of 1 and 2.

my family finder I have several 2nd to 4th cousins but I have not been able to even come close for them.

Yeah, well we are probably related from way back too Jim. I'm of Patrick ancestry in the same region. Like I've said to others . . . The Patricks and the Patton's intermarried "maybe" just a touch too much. :)

Hello Jim - how does one go about submitting an application to the Lamont  clan?  I have traced my ancestry back to John Patrick, 1429 of Ayrshire, Scotland but have done no DNA testing.  My USA Patrick ancestor is Jeremiah Patrick, b. 1738 - d. 1819.  I believe Jeremiah is a brother to your Hugh Patrick ancestor, if he was b. 1732 and d. about 1810/14.
