Anyone here, who has done the Ancestry.com DNA Test. I have and am wondering if I connect with one of our clan members through that testing. I have several family trees, but the one I have attached to my DNA results is the Patrick/Miller Family Tree. My handle there and here is DHPatrick. So far, I've only worked those which provide me with a clue, but I like to explore some that do not provide me with a clue. Kinda like filling in a puzzle. Knowing pieces on two sides, could help begin to fill it the pieces in the middle.

The Lamont DNA project is associated with FTDNA, they are the biggest and first in the industry for genealogy DNA testing. unfortunately the companys testing doesnt match up so hard to compare one to the other

My Dad ordered his test, so we will also have one through Ancestry. Maybe we can compare, not sure how to do this yet. Will be back when we get results.
I got my Dad's DNA tests back from Ancestry but it is much different than the standard HAPLO results. This is the SNP test. I would like to share to see if we can connect, the default ancestry matches are a bit crazy!
Send me an email anytime. I will send you his user ID and we can share data.
OK. The test from Ancestry is not very convincing. It shows some Patrick but since they do not specifically test the Y DNA, we have no proof. This appears to be a scam and not worth the money or time spent on it. We did get many more maternal hits which neither are surprises since these are documented.
If you are considering taking the DNA test, do NOT go through Ancestry.com
I will order my test in August FTDNA test to get a more conclusive lineage test done.
If any others taking or thinking about taking the test that is related through Robert Patrick's (1705) son James Patrick (1730), please contact me. I would love to nail down the ancestry of James which is confusing due to his traveling and war records.
It is said that they are not going to be donig some of their test anymore. here is bit I got from one of the FTDNA group admins on June 9th, 2014
Dear Group Administrators,
On Thursday, Ancestry.com™ announced that they will no longer sell Y-DNA and mtDNA tests. Additionally, the results from past Y-DNA and mtDNA tests will no longer be available after September 5, 2014.
There are no guarantee on what the future holds for Ancestry.com's™ autosomal DNA offering so we strongly recommend that you tell people that tested with Ancestry.com™ to transfer their Y-DNA and Autosomal DNA to Family Tree DNA where our main focus is genetic genealogy. mtDNA is not transferable because of compatibility issues.
Family Tree DNA is committed to supporting these valuable genealogical tests today and in the future. You should encourage anyone who has tested with Ancestry.com™ totransfer their record to Family Tree DNA as soon as possible.
The Y-DNA and Autosomal DNA transfer options are listed below:
Good to know. I have always used Family Tree since George Young told me about the program. I get updates at least three times a week on matches although none have been a complete match at the highest levels.
I dont always get notices from FTDNA, I will get a notice and then sort by date and there may be 2 or 3 that happened a couple of days before.
most of mine are in the 12 to 25 range but it is still interesting to see the names as a lot of folks start with just the 12, then move to the 25, and on up.
I order a Y67 and Family finder DNA test from FTDNA in mid Decembe, results are do in mid February to frist part of March. I joined the Patrick project, Scottish project, and the Viking project. I trace my Patrick's back to John Patric (k) 1429 Ayrshire Scotland. I hope to match other Patrick of that lineage.
The test normally come back before they are scheduled to so dont be suprised if you get a notice of a match and they have not told you your test is done "LOL"
Hi I am the granddaughter of Ressie Mae Patrick she married Ronnie Russell Elam. ressie parents where Price Patrick and Dora craft .. I also have Henry little hen Patrick in tree .. Archibald Campbell.
Got my YDNA 37 Marker test results back through FTDNA and have joined the Lamont, Patrick, and Cumberland Gap groups. I was a bit surprised at the results. My short hand is I-M253. Anyone else in this same group, please feel free to contact me anytime. There are a few in both Patrick and Lamont, so I am still hopeful to make some connection.
At first I was disappointed because so many in Robert's group had tested. I was positive I would have matched. However, my understanding is this is not the case. Now the fun begins again. I will try to contact my I-M253 members and maybe we can complete the connection.
Any suggestions or help on how I can leverage this information, I would appreciate it. Here is my most distant relations and a really good chance relation;
Daniel Boone Patrick, born 1810 TN, resided or settled in Clay County KY. He was married to Elizabeth Smith . My line from Daniel is through Pleasant Patrick. I have details on Pleasant Jr that confirm his mother.
Living within an ear shot was his potential sister Elizabeth. she had 90 year old Ezekiel Patrick. He was born Feb, 1759 in VA. He enlisted in the Revolution with the NC Militia. At the time he was living in Bladen NC. His RWP indicated this in his deposition. DAR confirmed this information. In his deposition, he indicated he followed his brothers Samuel, Daniel, and William into service. This is about it for now. Some say he was married to Mahala Patrick and she was believed to be from Ireland.
I had the Ancestry test done. 90% Scottish 8% Scandinavian and 2% a mix of euro countries. I wasn't very impressed with it. Can someone explain this new test everyone is getting or have a link?
if so it is from Family Tree DNA. they are several different levels 12, 25, 37, 67, and 111. I have had all of these excetp the 111.
I did do the one called the BIG-Y there are two of use that are starting our own string of mutations. so far we are the only ones associated with Clan Lamont
