Ok so I have traced it all the way back to John Patrick in 1429. Cant find who is after him. Anyone have any information. I have seen somewhere that it is Sir Alan Stewart and his mother was Catherin Seton. John Patrick's wife is Margaret Montgomery. Is this all correct?
Well, to take you back to the origins, Hector McKechnie, maintained that in CHAPTER XXI, "THE McPHADRICK LAMONTS and PATRICKS OF COUSTOUN," were "...all one and the same." In early Scotland names were often used interchangeably and name spelling dependent on both the memory and spelling skill of the early writers. Whether McPhadrick or Patrick, they all settled in Cowel, Argyleshire, specifically Coustoun or Coustoune on the west bank of Loch Striven, almost directly across from the "Old Manse" HQ of the Clan Lamont Society. If the two names sound a bit Irish they are for the Lamonts originated in the north of Ireland. A great source of early births and marriage can be found on "Scotland's People." Note. It is a paid web site but well worth the money.

I could use help as well. I come from the Patrick Sept. I've traced my family line from Texas back to Saline & Pettis County, Missouri, to Tennessee and then on to Virginia. My ancestor from Virginia would be John Patrick (abt 1770-1827), married Mary (1780- ). I did the Ancestry.com DNA Test and came up with 30% British Isles and 56% Scandinavian ancestry. That makes me a solid Scotti.
I'm new to the society, just joined today - that is, if my application is accepted.
I can use all the help I can get.

I still can not get passed the last Patrick. My line goes:
Dean Patrick - 1887 -1918
John Franklin Patrick - 1844 - 1897
Henry "Little Hen" Patrick - 1807 - 1855
Robert "Robin" Patrick - 1764 - 1859
Hugh Patrick - 1732 - 1814
Robert Patrick - 1705 - 1758
Hugh H. Patrick - 1678 - 1704
Robert Patrick - 1635 - 1707
John Kilpatrick - 1605 - 1671
Thomas Kilpatrick - 1580 - ????
James Patrick - 1552 - ????
John Patrick - 1530 - 1638
William Patrick - 1495 - 1549
John Patrick - 1460 - 1549
John Ayshire Patrick - 1429 - 1463
I too have been searching the John Ayrshire Patrick, trying to find some prior connection. I keep reading about the ties to William Patric De Lande which came across in 1066, however the most documented line from Cheshire had no males heirs after a few generations. But no other children have been listed or details given that I have found. I am missing the links from 1200-1400. Big chunk! It makes sense since he would have been educated in England, but so were many from nobilty in Scotland. Talk about confusing!!
I am still trying to get absolute ties to Robert Patrick's (b 1705) son James. It makes it hard since there could have been a few wives and since he was either off to war or exploring, his children stayed with his brother. We believe the tie is through James from his son Robert E Partick, 1759.
If I find anything, I will pass it along. If anyone has the children of James listed, be a great help. Ancestry.com has a lot of undoccumented claims, but nothing concrete.
Good luck searching!! If I come across anything, I will post.
I'm trying to get my father to do the ancestry DNA test. How long did it take for you to get results? Just curious. I figured he would be one generation closer to confirm, just getting him to place the order. Are you satisfied with the results you got from it? Have you compared results in the DNA project? Just curious to see how your experience has been with the Ancestry version.
I never did the DNA test JT. This is information that my family has had for a very long time. Dean is actually my 2nd great grandfather. I have information on all the patricks from there out.
Have more info on James? There are alot of them lol
I have been researching John 1429 too, especially since I am connected through James (Son of Robert 1705). I have seen the post in Ancestry about Alan Stewart. What I saw that there was a document from Midlothian that kind of confirmed his wife, but nothing that would connect John to Alan. I could not open the document as I don't have access to European records. I will probably get this after my 6 months runs out.
I found Alan had a son also named John Steward. But who knows. If I find anything, I will be sure to post.
