I'm a newbie, my name is Andrew Lamont and I am retired from Ontario Power Generation where I worked as an Operations Supervisor at Darlington nuclear station.
I was hoping to get some pointers on geneaology research. I recently developed an interest after a trip to Scotland and easily traced my ancestry back to my 3rd great grandfather Duncan who was born in Kilfinnan, and lived in the village of Piperhall near Kingarth, Bute ( according to various census docs ) Before Duncan it is pretty much a blank or potentially erroneous. I was born in Scotland but emigrated to Canada with my parents in 1950. Any information would be most appreciated.
do you have Duncan's date of birth and his wifes name?
as you can guess there could be many Duncan Lamont's. That info will help locate the correct one. I can show you how to find him and start looking back.
If you don't have his info. how about the next generation
A bunch of us on here have been doing this a few years
George

I don't have the exact date, but Duncan was born abt 1801, died Apr 18,1870. His wifes name was Isabella ( Duncan or maybe McConnechy) born abt 1810, died 28 Feb 1848.
One of their children,
James, born 1834 in Kingarth, Bute was my great great grandfather. He married Mary Balfour, born abt 1830 Forry's Green, Fife.
One of their children,
Andrew, born Mar.23,1860, died 20 January 1938 Kingarth, Bute was my great grandfather He married Mary Ann McDonald, born 1860, died 13 Feb 1940.
