Just found out that Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas have put out a new CD called Highlander's Farewell. I've only heard one track from the CD, but it's classic Fraser & Haas!
They also have a few guest musicians on the CD with, some of whom you may have heard of - Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill - Bruce Molsky - Brittany Haas - Hanneke Cassel - Laura Risk - Ryan McKasson - Evan Price - Emily Onderdonk - Mike Block - Tristan Clarridge.
Just thought all y'all might want to check this CD out. Alasdair Fraser, for those of you who don't know of him, is a great traditional Scottish fiddler (from Scotland) now living in California. A good fiddler friend of mine has modeled her fiddling after him. And they both have such an incredible, expressive way with the tunes. I'll be getting a copy, myself.
The paintings, poetry and music Are all merely water drawn from the well of mankind And must be returned to him in a cup of beauty So he may drink And in drinking, come to know himself. --Lorca
I got my copy through Barnes & Noble. It came today. The first track, for me, is worth the price of the CD. Alasdiar Fraser, Natalie Haas, Martin Hayes, Dennis Cahill, and Bruce Molsky all play on it. They take The Highlander's Farewell to Ireland on it's journey from Scotland to Ireland (Farewell to ireland & O'er the Water to Charlie) and then across the pond to Appalachia (Highlander's Farewell). It's shoutin' music!

Well, the rest of the CD is great, too. Great music!
