History Scotland, Scotland’s premier history and archaeology magazine, is now available as a digital edition, meeting the growing global demand for the latest Scottish history and archaeology news.

History Scotland’s Managing Editor, Matt Hill, said: ‘The fantastic reaction to our digital edition and App has proved that there are thousands of people around the world with a passion for Scotland’s history and heritage. Thanks to the technology, which allows you to read each issue on an iPad or iPhone, or on a PC or Mac, we now have many more readers from countries such Japan, USA and Canada, all of whom enjoy the in- depth articles written by Scotland’s leading historians, archaeologists and curators.’

‘We appreciate that different people require different formats and the traditional print version is delivered to thousands of readers in the UK and abroad, who can subscribe using our website or by calling our subs hotline.’

The July/August issue of History Scotland goes on sale today, and includes in-depth features on Scottish railways in World War I, recent research on medieval Scottish parks, the story of a scandalous 18th-century court case linked to a Banffshire estate, and much more. The lively news section includes the latest discoveries from the major archaeological dig at Edinburgh Castle, and details a new online archive which preserves rare Scots and Gaelic sound recordings.
