Hi all,

My brother-in-law wanted a hunter for for his daughter or it would be better to say that she has been pestering him for years for one.  Unfortunate for her the rule is that I don't make knives for minors unless both parents agree and her parents aren't together.

Her favorite colors are purple and silver.  She is a bit of a do things her way kind of girl.  Did some vines and thorns file work going it each direction to simulate starting and tapering down to the ends.  The blade is made from CPM S35VN and the handle is 416 bolsters with mosaic pins and stabilized purple heart.  This is one of the firsdt uses of my new name stamp -

Going out to the sheath maker tomorrow.  Paul Long is one of the top three best sheath makers around.  He will be doing a black sheath probably with a black shark skin inlay.

Drac,

By chance, do you do knife repairs? I have a fighting Bowie that srarted life as a 5-ton Army truck spring. But a mortar round kind of made it redundent. So I took a bit of it to the village blacksmith in Phouc Vinh and had him make me a Bowie with a water buffalo horn hilt and brass guard and butt cap.

The guard is a bit loose and the blade is really in need of being re-tempered as it is way too hard. Very difficult to get an edge on it.

I carried it through 'Nam and have used it for camping and such since I came home in '66.

I would like to get it fixed up and a new sheath made as the original water buffalo sheath is pretty hard up.

that knife has a great story, I hope Drac can fix it up for you. I have seen his work several time and will vouch for his craftmentship. With his military background I know he would have the upmost respect for this piece. I saw a knife he made from a piece of wood from the USS Constitution.

I would have to see it to determine if I can do something. If not I have some friends who might.

I have a similar story as Michael. I too have a dagger made from what was left of the under carriage of an MA-2 multi-purpose vehicle that was hit by a rocket (most of us knew them as unguided "Telephone Poles") during Tet at Bien Hoa. I think the handle is made from the power take-off gearshift. Funny what we remember to bring back. Tom
