Yep, I have a new Christmas CD coming out very soon.  The CD is entitled Light in the Darkness.   It is 57:13 of acoustic instrumental music featuring Hammered Dulcimer.  Other instruments include Mountain Dulcimer, Bowed Psaltery, Guitar, Djembes, Bodhrán, Tambourine and Ankle Bells.

Though is does include some traditional carols you will likely recognize, there are some you won't, and some newly-composed music, as well.  This isn't "your Daddy's Christmas CD", unless you're my kids, and then, of course, it is your Daddy's Christmas CD.

To read more about it, see the track list, and hear the audio clips, go here.

The CD goes on sale on Thanksgiving Day on my website.  I'll post an announcement here and on Facebook, and send out an email to those on my email list letting you know the order form is active.

I expect to receive the CDs on Dec. 9.  By ordering early, your order will get to me in time for me to mail your CD(s) out to you quickly.

PS Rick it might be my server but after I listened to one sample track I had to close your website and relaunch to get the another track to play.

Nope, none of that.   Now what I could do is this - wear my overalls, with my red and white flannel shirt, and coem as Bubba Claus, Santa's third cousin.   wink

Nope.  Don't do PayPal.  I started to once, but decided in the midst of setting it up, I didn't want to do that.

Normally, CD Baby works fine for those who just don't want to write that check.  But since CD Baby won't have this CD up until maybe old Christmas (early next year), that doesn't help folks who want to hear it now.

Got the Christmas CD today and played it soon as I could.   Very nice Rick!  Such nice music to listen to.  You sir are an extremely talented musician!  Only problem is that good wife is already trying to abscond with it.  Hmm, need to keep a closer eye on her.

Thanks. I appreciate that.

One other solution would be to buy her one of her own.  wink

Thanks, George.

I "saw" that cover one day last summer at the Farmers' Market where I play.   One of the vendors sells local honey and his wife makes and sells beeswax candles.  I had the title, and when I looked over at their booth, the cover flashed in my mind, and I said to myself, "Well, duh!  Of course!  That's the cover for the CD!"   So, I talked to her and she provided the candles for the cover photo, and even made a special height candle for the lowest candle.  A neighbor a few doors down from us took the photos, and did the graphic design for me.  He implemented that cover exactly right.  I was very pleased with his work on this.

BTW, do you mind if I use your comments on the CD comment page on my website?

Same question for Luckey - may I use your comments on the CD comment page on my website?

Thanks.

Hi Rick

Since I am new to this forum, I'm just getting around to this thread about your wonderful CD.  I listened to the beautiful samples at CD baby.  I also visited your Cute Dog website.

Gosh how I love the sound of the Hammered Dulcimer!  But who doesn't?  It has such an irresistably enchanting sound. smile

I was particularly interested to read at the Cute Dog site about some of your classical influences where the music tells a story.   As a young child, I am became fascinated with classical music, even though no one else in my family had any interest.  Now that I compose my own music, the classical influence still remains most dominant.

I confess I had to look up some explanations for some of the instruments on your Christmas CD.  I had no idea what a bowed psaltery was, or a Bodhran or Djembes.  You forced me to learn something new about music - thanks! smile

Christmas Blessings,
Paul

Welcome to the forum, Paul.

Thanks for your comments about the audio clips of the CD.

Yes, I tend to use traditional instruments, and some of them many folks have never heard of.  I should probably make pages for the Bowed Psaltery, Bodhrán and Djembes - or just link to some site that already has that information on it.

I haven't played classical music in many, many years.  Mainly I'm into traditional music of Ireland, Scotland and America, but also have branched out into some English traditional music (you other cousins will have to pardon me for that, but the English, though they may be terrible at ruling people, do pick out some good tunes once in a while - and steal it other times), and some small bit of Danish traditional music.  My compositions don't necessairly reflect the traditional styles, though they do more and more use the modes in which those those styles are written.

LOL - those English have a habit of taking things that ain't theirs - tunes, other people's countries, etc... smile

But I love choral music, and unfortunately the English seem to do that better than anyone - *sigh*

Et tu Brute? Or more appropriately Benedict Arnold. no Although that comment borders on heretical my Anglo-Norman side of the family will let that slide. I would have to consider banning you if you said the Campbell's pick out some good tunes once in awhile. smile
