I am an RN. My speciality is labor and delivery, high risk pregnancy (antepartum). I have been a nurse for 25 year. I have also worked some in home health, and general medical surgical units, and geriatrics. Prior to being a nurse I worked in retail and delivered newpapers to get myself through school. I feel very lucky to work in an area where my skills are in high demand.
My mother-in-law specialized in OBGY (deliveries) for about 19 years when the hospital downsized the staff, all those close to retirement age that is. You wouldn't think nuns would be so mean, would ya? Actually it was the hospital board.
Now she's a school nurse for the last almost 20 years.
We sure can appreciate what you do Gwen. Our oldest is in her 29th week carrying twins and has been in the hosp. twice now in labor, but they were able to slow it down so far with meds. Also, our youngest, also an RN, is pregnant with her first - due in Feb. Keep up the good work!
