Nearly the same as the Loch lomond and the clan Lamont.
Don't you think this is a bit strange ?

Welcome to the Forum.

The spellings of many names get changed over the years and generations, the names Lamond or Limond could have evolved to Lhomond or Lomond.

I have an instance in my own heritage of the name Caudle evolving to Caudell and then to Caudill, the name is still pronunced today as if it were still spelled Caudle.

Actually its pretty common.  During the medieval period and forward there really was no standardized spelling.  People often spelled words the way they sounded to them.

Try reading some of the medieval cook books and you will see what i am talking about. Its a wonder we can figure anything out LOL
