DNA match to Blacks/Lemmon
Permalink

Hi Guys,

Glad to be here! I got my Y DNA tested - I'm L513, downstream of L21. Specifically, I sit on a branch downstream of Z17817 and BY615 with a guy called Meek. Right next to us, also down from BY615, is a big group consisting of Blacks, some Campbells (!) and a guy called Lemmon. Many of the Blacks have family histories linking them to Lamont lands. It seems pretty likely this is a clan Lamont grouping. There is another Lamont group in L513, but quite far away from my group.

The others in my group (myself included) have names that suggest settlement in the Clyde/Ayrshire area. My own ancestry is traced back to 1742 in New Cumnock, Ayrshire. So the links to the clan are probably quite ancient.

I spent many childhood holidays on the Cowal peninsula, and always felt a real resonance there! I'm absolutely delighted to find a link to this great clan, even if it is distant.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or help on this issue!

Best wishes to you all,

Jon
