The North Texas Irish Festival was held March 6th – 8th.
Firday:I got there about 10:00am and got setup and things all in order. The gates opened at 6:00 pm and folks started in, some at a trot to get to the ticket booths (food and drink is only sold with tickets). The traffic seemed a bit less than past years even with clear sky’s and mid 60’s temps. The clan tents are located inside a large building and I was the 2nd tent on the main isle just inside the door.At this venue we are limited to 20 clan tents so it is by invite only.I even had a one of the stages across the aisle from me so I had music and dancers all weekend.Didn’t talk to many folk on Friday and folks thinned out about 9:00 pm so I closed up.
Saturday: I arrived about 9:00am and got the tent opened up and took a walk around the grounds to see what else there this year. There were a lot of venders and their wares. The weather was overcast and a bit windy but the temps were nice and the crowd was good but still a bit less than other in past years.I did talk to several folks there are interested in finding out more about the clan.I finished but about 9:30 and called it a day.
Sunday:I arrived at 8:00am because I had left my billfold there Saturday night and had to wait on them to unlock the doors “LOL”.Sunday was another clear day but wind was up and a stiff breeze with cooler temps.Gates opened at 11:30am and the folks started streaming in and it was another good crowd. The North Texas Caledonian Pipes and Drums played several time Saturday and Sunday and they drew a lot of folks around to listen to them.I got to talk to more folks on Sunday and some were adoptees like myself so we talked how they could start to find their birth parents and how to use different type of DNA to help their hunt.
