Genealogy Book Recommendation

I just finished reading "Reunion: A Search for Ancestors" by Ryan Littrell.  Two thumbs up -- and here's why . . .

The young author starts off as a "newbie" to genealogy.  His curiousity about family and family places, plus his memories and love for his favorite grandmother (surname: McDonald) start him on his journey.

He goes to Scotland -- more than once.  (He gets married there even before he's gotten his McDonalds out of Missouri!)

He utiilises DNA test results in his search and encourages others to do so, finding near matches.

He correctly consults and sites resources like Ancestry.com and the U.S. GenWeb Project for their respective information.

He is not content to be an armchair genealogist but gets off his seat and visits the areas in the US where his grandmother's ancestors lived and does research there.

He is not too proud (or shy) to ask others for help.

He makes some interesting cousin connections on both sides of the Atlantic.

He weaves part of the history of a particular locale and people into his own ancestor-tracking story.

He even mentions the Lamonts once!

Anyone who has ever been interested in tracing their family tree, especially Scottish ancestry, should find this a helpful, inspiring read.  I really appreciated his first-trip reactions to being on Scottish soil.  I shared some of those same thoughts and feelings.
