My Name is Ben Thomas Hieronymus I'm from Pulaski County Ky with my family roots in Lee County KY at the confluence of the 3 branches of the Kentucky River. I have recently discovered my Lamont herritage as I tried to find a tartan to wear to a Renn Faire. For some reason I could't bring myself to wear the generic Black Watch / Campbell.... Perhaps a gentic memory? I did shallow Internet research of my Great Grandfather's name, Lucas and I found myself on the list of families affiliated with what sounds like a gracious and welcoming clan.
The Scots - Irish migration from Virginia across the Appalachians and up the Powell Valley of East Tenn. and into eastern Kentucky allowed for the settlement of the land by an independent self reliant people. Family lines and their intertwining is celebrated through out southern mountian culture.. i'm a little supprised that my family lost tract of our clan.
I have comissioned 8 yards of Acient Lamont from a friend of mine who is a hand weaver. I'll post his address and the cost per yrd if he beats the scottish weavers price.
I will look for my "cousins" when I attend the games.
Welcome to Clan Lamont. It sounds like you have done a wealth of delving into your heritage. It is so important to remember and record our history. Please post the names and dates so we can fill in the blanks. If you need help just ask. We have resources available. Please consider joining the Clan Lamont Society of North America and sharing your history. You will look great in ancient Lamont.
Hello. I was born in Nicholas County, Kentucky north east of Lexington 30 miles. My father was Maxwell Evans Burden and he always told me we were from the tribe of Lamont Scotland. Mom and dad went to a dentist in Lexington whose last name was the same as yours. Pleased to meet you. Dad loved to help people keep up with their families.
Wonderfully small world...Your parents dentist was Dr Joe Hieronymus. His father Rev Joseph Hooker Hieronymus was a circuit riding minister in eastern Ky. Rev Joe was my great uncle. My father's side of the family is well documented The Hieronymus Family in America.. time to fill out the details of my mother's side.
Maybe we can get some of that hand woven Lamont available for all to enjoy (and buy!). It is so great to see that a real art and craft still survives. It is up to all to retain and support these for our future generations.
