Act in favour of John M'Dougal of Dunollie against the late Marquis of Argyll and others. In 1643-7 the deceased Marquis of Montrose and Sir James Lamont of Inveryne, Knight, being commissioned by His Majesty's dearest father to rise in arms, and specially the said Sir James, having warrant from the said Montrose to raise all his men, friends, and followers, against Argyll, the said John M'Dougal, and his father Alexander, having risen to the number of 500 men, and joined themselves to Sir James, were invaded by Argyll and David Leslie, and pursued to Dunavertie in Kintyre, where, not being able to hold out, they surrendered, 1 and were inhumanly butchered to the number of 500 men: the said John M'Dougal (being a child) was only spared.
