FINALLY!! I ordered my Lamont Ancient kilt

Burnett and Struth have a sale going on thier casual ( 4-5 yrd ) kilts and the Lamont Ancient popped up on thier 13 oz list. I pulled the trigger and can't wait. I'll post pics when it arrives.

I have two of thier casuals ( MacAlpine Ancient, and Ulster Weathered ) and they are really nice for the money. I'm stoked and just had to share.

Congrats Eric, exciting times!  I have a modern and an ancient and truthfully I usually pick the ancient to wear.  You'll love it, can't wait for the pics.

Sorry to hear that Eric,  can you get the tartan from a different retailer but same mill?  I have noticed the same tartan from different mills are different shades, or is that just the internet pictures?

I went with a different company who make casuals made from tartan from Marton Mills. I ordered a 5 yarder made from 13 oz Jura. I ordered it about a month ago so hopefully I will get it in a couple of weeks.
I did order a 13 oz casual from Burnett and Struth in the MacAlpine tartan....my "must have" list is shrinking.....yay.

I got my Lamont Modern and my MacAlpine Modern last week, I'll post pics when I get a chance. We have been working a butt ton since the storms started.
I need to order some good House of Chevoit hose to go with them now!

Oh Eric, have you gotten any pictures of your  Lamont Ancient  and Modern yet?

I am stuck between the two, most of the Modern I see are pretty dark so I can been considerng something lighter like the Ancient so you can see the pattern.

confuse

Fortunately I have both. Different sizes for those times when you need them. The modern does look much better to my critics (wife and daughter) when formal. We are sure you will look great in either.

I am wanting something for everything from formal PC (what I am ordering) to dressing down to wear with a T-shirt and everything inbetween, its just that looking at a Modern at a distance it has a lot of the pattern sort of just fades to a dark mass.

As they are going to have to weave what I want I need to try and get it right the fist time biggrin

That's true about the loss of pattern. I have tried both in formal and as I said the "critics" have the final say. Their comment-"we are looking at you and we know what we like" End of tune and tale. Wear them both with pride.
