Greetings from Paul Lamon

I'm so new to this Forum, I didn't even realize there was a Welcome Room until today.  So some folks already know me from my first post in the Craftsmen's Guild yesterday.

I'm 47, married 21 years (Italian wife smile), have 2 sons (1 in college, 1 in middle school).

I don't think I knew anything about my last name "Lamon" until a couple years ago when I became curious for the first time and did some research online.  Somehow I've missed this website the last couple of years, but I am sure glad I found it now.  I'm so impressed with the activity and fellowship in the CLSNA and also here in the forum.  It feels like a very nice extended family already.

I know next to nothing about my own family roots.  I know my great grandfather was an undertaker in Ireland who came to the US at some point in his life.  Now that I am involved with this group, I am motivated to pick my father's brain and find out anything else he might know.

This may sound silly, but the movie "Braveheart" really got me interested to do the initial research that I started a couple years ago.  I didn't even see "Braveheart" when it came out in the movies.  I saw it on TV for the first time a couple years ago.  I still love to go on YouTube to watch Mel Gibson deliver that epic speech where he says "They may take our lives, but they will never take...OUR FREEDOM!"  Gives me chills every time.

So I've been working as a government labor analyst for 20 years now in New Jersey, USA.  My passion - as anyone who saw my post in the Craftmen's Guild the other day knows - is writing music.

Maybe I would have had a successful career in music had I started earlier.  But I was a late bloomer and didn't get going with it until my 30s.  Of course, once you have kids and a mortgage, a regular paycheck becomes a really big deal. smile  So I've stayed with the government job and write as much music as I can in my spare time.

So I look forward to exploring the forum in the days ahead with all the wonderful information and great people.

Greetings 2 all

And welcome again Paul.  Get as much info as you can from your father and whomever you can and then I recommend talking to Knockdow and MacPatrick as they will be able to set you on the right course for your family discoveries...I'm sure they will be along shortly.

yes gather as many clues as you can find, even those wild family stories. Those sometimes are slightly inflated but good to check out.

sheesh the only thing worse than my spelling is typing
