Notice at about 1:03 seconds our Mary (pink shirt bluue sweater) & Jim Lamb (green sweater) in the crowd scene. They Dutch pipe band is good friends with CLS. Jim & Mary go to Holland often and they come to Scotland several times a year. They are good people.

the story of how there came a Dutch Lamont pipe band is interesting. I hope I get the details straight. It seems this Dutch pipe band liked our tartan ( we alll understand why... best tartan ever), they wrote to Fr Peter and asked permission to call themselves the Lamont Pipe band and he granted permission. We have become good friends ever since.

thanks James.... good find

Hi all
This is me just catching up after all the homecoming activities.
Yes George you are correct and the band is very good they are always so very smart and so proud of the Clan Lamont connection.
In 2008 I recieved an email from the leader of the band just introducing themselves saying it was thier 20th anniversary and they were having some special celebrations.
I replied saying that I knew of their existance and was sorry that I had not made contact though it had been my intention. Anyway after some emails back and forth Jim and I found ourselves in Waalwick Holland as their guests.
That May weekend a pipe band competition was held in their honor and we were guests of honor sitting the VIP tent with the officials, afterwards at the council chambers balcony we took the salute as the massed bands paraded for the prize giving.....I FELT LIKE THE QUEEN smile.gif  By this time I was full of malt whisky that I was forced to drink !! ( just like homecoming gathering)
We made good friends with them all they have been over here four times and we were back to Holland in May this year as per the video.
Some of them led us in the homecoming parade. Wonderfull people long may our freindship and connection continue.

Mary, so good to hear from you again!  I trust you are well.  Sue and I quite often talk of our visits to the Manse and the hospitality you and Jim shared with us.  We truly hope we can visit the Cowal Penninsula again and see all the great folks we met there.  As it is we have amazing memories which will last a lifetime.
We hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

All the best to both you and Jim,
Sue and Jim
