I am just going to post pics now and maybe someone else will explain its use later.

It has the Lamont strap and buckle, Lamont Harp, Castles Ascog(leftside) and Toward (right) and the Cowel Penninsula with the castles locations marked.
Thanks for looking.

I asked Eric if he would accept a commissioned piece..  to carve a Lamont artifact that can be mailed.

We can mail this to members across the country. It makes its way around the society passed from member to member. We can document the journeys across the country/world by taking pictures and posting here on the forum.

Pictures of
   on a roller coaster
   riding on a jet ski
   climbing a mountain
at the Great wall of China
   etc
you get the idea, sort of like that little gnome on the Travelocity commercials. (maybe I watch too many commercials)

The first trip it will be taking will be to Scotland to participate in The Gathering, then to Cowal peninsula at Toward, Kilfinan, Inverchaolin, the Manse etc etc

Thanks ERIC you do great work and fast too

I love it, Eric you do beautiful work,  I would like to have a Lamont plaque (not a copy of that one) to hang in my home.

Eric, would you consider developing a plaque that could be sold to any interested members, say a limited edition and sequentially numbered like Matt Newsome's kilts or Thorfinn sporrans? I would like to be in the front of the line to purchase one.

Eric,

Interesting.

I have a flag that I got off my ship when I was over for Desert Storm. Since then it has flown over about 40 sites, ships and monuments around the country. I have put together a list of over a hundred site contact info if this would help in its travels. Granted most of these are military oriented and may not be what your looking for.

Once this is ready to start its travels though I would like to be on the list.

Jim

Well George,
This is your idea ( I would like to say I tought of it, but my heads scrambled half of the time) so I do believe its all yours. One suggestion if you like,...maybe ask forum members for their input and pick one from the batch.

Well Jim,
That sounds like a neat idea, I am wanting to do something like that and still incorporate one or two of the places or item.
For instance, a plaque with the Cowel in the background with the strap and buckle over it, or the harp,..etc. There could be many different possibilities. Also I am wanting to carve a rendition or use the Lamont standard ( Ardlamont ) , I was just wondering about the appropreitness of coping the standard? Any other ideas/thoughts are indeed welcome.

And Jim,
You have a cool thing going on too, but your asking the wrong guy, this is Georges baby.

I do believe Jim might be handling the list? Not really sure. I sent it out Friday afternoon (06/26) and know I will get it on the return from Scotland. I guess a new thread will be started for pictures of it. More to come.

My plan was to start another catagory for this traveling "______" (what shall we call it?)

The first trip will be to Scotland.

I will take it first to Isle of Barra where the Lamont ancestors (McNeils of Barra) lived after coming from Ireland as part of the O'Neil clan.

Then it will go to The Gathering in Edinburg, hope to get a group picture with all our Lamont's from all over the world? (ok I can dream, hard to get that many Lamonts tostand still) While in Edinburgh I will try to take on on the march up the Royal Mile to be part of the largest group of Scotsmen returing to Alba.

Then the plaque will visit the Cowal peninsula wear the Lamonts lived for almost 800 years. We will try to take to as many Lamont sites of interest as possible with pictures of course.

So anybody have an idea for a name? __________

I'm assuming it's made of wood, so with that in mind:

Lamont Wood

Treasures Of Ancient Lamont Wood (TOAL Wood)

Harp Wood

Lamont Circle, Disc, Plaque, Round

OK, I'm still on vacation and just a little bored.  My mind wanders, oh look a bird, just a bit.

Well, it's a start.

I like TOAL Wood and Lamont Disk/circle/oval.
TOAL Wood has a ring to it to me for some reason.
