My grandmother was Eunice Octavia Young Teagarden of Knoxville, TN, who was a descendant of Andrew Lamont Young. I am a member of the Andrew Lamont Young Society.
I have been to Larne to the house of Andrew Lamont Young two or three (thwarthy) times in the course of going there for the music.
I am a musician. I play Irish, Scottish, and even some English traditional music on hammered dulcimer. I also play bodhran.
I did have the opportuinty in 2006 to go to Dunoon, but never found the castle ruins there. However, it's amazing how the landscape surrounding Dunoon reminds me of the Hiwassee River Gorge in eastern TN.
Glad to be on this forum.

Greetings Neighbor!! Did you play down at the Mill this past August? I was a vendor there, but didn't get to see much of the music. I did meet Michael Whitfield there, good ole fella. Like you I hope to meet a bunch more of the clan here.

Welcome to the forum LarneMan. I'd like to hear more about the bodhran as lately I have been thinking about learning more about it.

Hi, Jim.
Thanks. Sorry for the late reply. I've been pretty busy and just now gotten back to this forum.
I have only had something like two lessons on the bodhrán, so I'm no expert. But I'm getting better at it since being in this Celtic band in which I play it a lot. Mine is made by Albert Alfonso. Great drum. I also just got some new tippers from him that are very nice and make it easier for me to play the drum.
