After going through the Hector McKechnie book on The Lamont Clan, 1235-1935, I'm still pretty much in the dark about the involvement of Clan Lamont members in the life of the folks in Fife.  I'm even plodding through (in Olde Englishe) the Diary of Mr. John Lamont in the mid-1600s and am about to dive into the year 1658, but am still not much more enlightened about the activities of that family in that location than I was when I began. confuse

Basically, I'm trying to determine how my Brown family line may have received the Y-DNA influence of Clan Lamont in our genetic makeup, but the more I read about Clan Lamont members in Fife the more convinced I am becoming that "the wrong side of the blanket" may have been involved, somewhere in the distant past. wink

Has anyone else been looking at the history of Clan Lamont in Fife and have anything that might help unravel this puzzle?

searching can be rough, I have grandmother that was a Brown but I have traced her line back to John J Brown 1816-1878.

if you come across any Lammons prior to 1794 let know  biggrin
