What is the best source for learning the Gaelic language? I have seen several CD's/DVD's, but would like to know if there is one others have been successful with.

The Speaking Our Language course is once available for purchase. Sìol Cultural Enterprises in Nova Scotia, Canada has them in Region Free DVD format. They will play on any DVD system. There are a total of 4 Series with 4 DVDs each and a total of 18 lessons per series. I purchased the whole series and the video quality is excelent and the cost was less than we paid for the tapes back in the 1990s. The contact info for Sìol Cultural Enterprises is below.

Well, "Snake Eater" (inside joke for the rest of you non army guys"}. I have heard of people learning a foreign language while listening on their car player. Beware, however, it is a very difficult language to learn. Most folk who want to speak Ersk as in my case, or Scots Gaelic, spend their vacations at schools for that purpose.

Sir,

Your comment wasn't too far off. I served with the Rangers from 1986-1990 then after graduating from SFQC (just before we went into Panama I was with the Army's 5th SFG (Airborne) from 1990-1994.

But, my heart was always with the Rangers.

I think for us mature folks, learning off a CD is tough. I found it near impossible and now attend classes. Maybe if I was 10 years old I could learn that way. I need the teacher correcting my errors, I generally cant hear myself making the mistake. Look for local instructors in your area, more are popping up all the time

I'd have a better chance of having a dinasour appear in my back yard, then find someone in Houston that speaks Gaelic.
