Well I did some shopping today and picked up some of the following

Balvenie 12 year DoubleWood

Balvenie 15 year Single Barrel

Balvenie 21 year Portwood

Glenfiddich 12 year

Glenfiddich 15 year

Glenfiddich 18 year

Are any of these any good?  I will be taste testing this week smile

I'll be right over. You might need someone to guard these. The Balvenies are an excellent choice. All are great. The 12 is wonderful to have on the shelf after a hard day. Save the others for that real special occasion. The 21 is that real treat! The Glens are also good. The 15 has a special story so check the website for the information. I personally prefer the Balvenies which have more body to me. They are my choice to have on he shelf, which I do. Again it is all in what you prefer. Great tasting! By the way all are best with a drop or two of good still water always at room temperature. Ray Whitney, who was the ambassador for Glennfiddick taught me this.

Thanks Tom, I have not have many spirits for over 20 years but there are evenings that something smooth would just hit the spot. The old days it was Vodka "LOL"

in some of my googleing i also found that area lot of Scotch tastings here in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, David never mentioned those.

I am also going to order some Glencairn glasses, may even have Clan Lamont etched on them??   smile

all Balvenies are great, never had the 21...let us know. I have found often times the extra price on extended ageing not worth it. Love to be proven wrong.  Both good choices for mild sweet whiskies. You could invite me over for any of these :smile clsna

Take a look at this for a nice set of engraved glasses. I got them with a travel case this Spring. Scroll down past the tent pictures.

I did perfer the Glenfiddich 12 year over the Balvenie 12 year, the Glenfiddich seemed to have more flavor as the Balvenie was very smooth it just didnt have much flavor.

now on to 15 year  biggrin

That's why they make more than one variety of single. You can be sure that an intelligent guest would never turn down any of the above. As I said the Balvenies do tend to be very smoooooth!

To finish this one up I did enjoy all of the samples but I think the Glenfiddich 18 year was the best
