Morning All,

Last week I went to our local wine and spirit shop looking for a good whisky to give as a birthday gift to a good friend and fellow scotch drinker.  While deciding between several good and well-known brands, the owner, a gentleman with a very educated palat, recommeded some Tamdhu, a Speyside.  He said he always keeps bottles at both his home as well as his cottage.  He also stated that his good friend who has a "well stocked"  whisky bar thought it (Tamdhu) was a very old, very expensive whisky after tasting it for the first time.

I have never heard of Tamdhu before (I lead a sheltered life), but took his advise and purchased a bottle.  Gave it to my friend who promptly opened it to share - told you he was a good friend - and was I ever suprised!  Very fruity to spicy nose, slightly pale in color, and amazingly good.  One website I checked described it as refreshing - a very good description.  All this for $28.00!

A great whisky at a great price, what more can a person ask for!

$28 bucks for a bottle of single malt is unheard of. Almost worth the flight to Michigan to buy some. biggrin

Reminds me of the seinfeld episode where the drove the mail van full of empty pop bottles to Michigan to redeem the higher value than in NY.
