Dunstaffnage was the castle of the Lamont allies, the McDougals. Like many things in the west of Scotland, this castle came into the possesion of the Campbells. In 1646 after the massacre, Sir James Lamont was taken to this castle and held prisoner for some 5 years. Another famouse prisioner in this castle about 100 years later was Flora McDonald, who helped smuggled Bonnie Prince Charlie out of the country.







this is the dungeon location in the castle, it appears to be a mere 10ft square corner of the castle
