Please don't hate meboo.gif

I have worked the last ten years in various areas of SWBT, then SBC and now at&t.  Currently working in a network surveillance center in the Dallas area.

I also have a part-time job with the Navy Reserves.  I drill in Fort Worth with a carrier augment unit  but my gaining command (the one who pays me) is in Coronado.  They use to be call Operational Support Team 1 but their name was change to Seal Team 17 because it sounds so much cooler.

What's to hate? It's just AT&T the most reliable and reasonably priced service out there. AT&T is only the company that refused to run fiber optic cable into my neighborhood forcing me to still be on dial-up (44.0 kb) in the 21st century. I love em'.

Clearly they have good people on the payroll though! wink

I was just kidding about all that, of course.

David,

I was doing some training at the Stealth base in MO on fiber optics a few years ago. I won't go into to much detail but the Master Sargent there had an unlimited budget for the computers network and comms systems. He had the best of the best. He tried every new product so when he said something was the best he knew his stuff. Every computer was hooked up by fiber and he had more advance digital switchs for comms than at&t has.

He couldn't get off the base with a digital signal, only analog (dial-up). He hated us with a unholy passion because of it.

Dial-up slavery is a hell I wouldn't wish on anyone but my enemies. I see no solution other than Hughes Net satellite. They have a rackateering charge for setup followed by monthly extortion. Plus, the service has a pricing structure based on bandwidth usage like back in th 90's.

disbelief

No. No. No.

I have DSL through AT&T.   I stayed with Bellsouth, then AT&T during deregulation.  But now, our local electric company is offering fiber optic to home, and depending on their price, I might go to it.  Have to wait for them to finish figuring out how much they're going to charge.
